This is a special message for women.

In the years following my introduction to the martial arts in the mid-1980's,
I have had a few good instructors and some wonderful experiences;
however, I have also experienced the bad and
the ugly side of the martial arts.

Because the martial arts are often viewed as a contact sport and/or
a combat art and because it is a male-dominated activity,
an environment is created that often makes women feel either
unwelcome, uneasy or at least, unequal.

What this means for women is that often training itself becomes
uncomfortable and at times, dangerous.
Women sometimes find themselves victimized by
the very individuals who they turn to for help.

In the past, when women mostly remained at home and relied on
the men in their lives for protection, making such training a
"men's only" club was fine; however, time changes circumstances.
In today's modern world, women find themselves responsible
for the protection of themselves and their children.

Women have VALUE and an important place in this Art.
Properly Trained, a woman like the FLAME is
Beautiful to behold; but Deadly to the Touch.

I choose Mr. Parker's American Kenpo because properly taught
and properly learned, it is an ideal art for females because
through the application of the concepts and principles
taught through Mr. Parker's American Kenpo,
one can compensate for having less size and muscle mass
because one learns when, where and how to hit to generate
maximum impact with minimal effort.

"Even the smallest hole, properly placed, can sink the biggest ship."
-Mr. Ed Parker

Whatever Art you seek, my message is simple:
BE CAUTIOUS and CHOOSE WISELY.

The choices you make today, will determine your tomorrow.
